Warranty
When you purchase your new watch from Carat & Co., we ensure that your item is covered at least 2 years under the manufacturer warranty from any manufacturing defects. Warranty coverage applies only to items that are within the manufacturer’s specified warranty period and have not violated or voided the warranty agreement. Coverage terms and duration are determined by each brand.
Please note that the brand warranty that we offer does not cover the lifetime of the battery, normal wear and tear to case, pushers, crown, straps, bracelet, crystal, any damage to the watch resulting from physical/accidental abuse, lack of care, accidents (dents, broken crystal, etc), alterations or tampering from non-authorized centers and damage resulting from wear under conditions exceeding the watch manufacturer's water resistance limitations.

Servicing
Carat & Co. assists with repair and maintenance services by coordinating directly with authorized brand service centers. When our clients entrust their timepieces or jewelry to us, our priority is to provide reliable service and fair pricing while preserving the value of each item.
Service recommendations vary by use and model, but general guidelines include:
- Annual water-resistance checks for water-resistant timepieces
- Complete maintenance service every 5 years
- Immediate service is recommended if you notice:
- Changes in timekeeping accuracy
- Pushers or crown not operating properly
- Moisture or condensation inside the dial
- Battery failure or power reserve issues
Prompt servicing can help prevent further damage and costly repairs.
To request service, please submit your inquiry using the Contact Form below. Our team will guide you through the next steps based on your item, brand, and warranty status.
Once service is completed, manufacturers typically provide a minimum 12-month warranty covering the work performed, unless otherwise stated by the brand.
Extended Warranty by Jewelers Mutual
Depending on the plan you choose (e.g., 3-Year Watch, 3-Year Jewelry, or Lifetime Jewelry Plans), coverage includes a variety of repairs at no charge, such as:
For Watches:
- Mechanism failures
- Battery replacement
- Crystal repair
- Case or bezel damage
- Water damage (to water-resistant watches)
- Bracelet refurbishing or strap replacement
For Jewelry:
- Ring resizing
- Rhodium plating and polishing
- Prong and band repairs
- Gemstone replacement
- Broken clasps or chains
Contact us directly via the Extended Warranty Form below or reach out for details. Availability, plan options, and pricing vary; exclusions and limitations apply.
Once enrolled in a JM Care Plan, covered repairs are handled through the plan’s terms. Coverage continues according to the plan selected, helping protect against many normal wear and repair costs that the standard manufacturer warranty may not cover.
JM Care Plans focus on repair and maintenance coverage for normal wear and certain accidental issues. They do not cover loss or theft. Separate jewelry insurance is recommended for that type of protection. For more information on insurance, please review the Insurance section.
insurance
Carat & Co. partners with Jewelers Mutual, the only insurer in North America dedicated solely to jewelry insurance for over 100 years, to help protect your valuable pieces beyond typical homeowners or renter policies.
Standard homeowner or renter policies may not fully protect jewelry or watches against all risks such as loss, theft, accidental damage, or mysterious disappearance. A dedicated jewelry insurance policy is designed specifically for valuables like engagement rings, luxury watches, earrings, and loose stones.
Jewelers Mutual policies generally include comprehensive repair or replacement coverage for your insured items, including:
Loss — Covered if an item is misplaced or cannot be found
Theft — Covered if your piece is stolen
Damage — Covered for accidents like cracked stones or bent settings
Disappearance — Covered even when the cause isn’t clear
Coverage also extends worldwide when you travel with your insured jewelry or watch.
You can insure all types of jewelry (engagement rings, bracelets, earrings, loose diamonds, etc.) and watches under Jewelers Mutual policies.
Insurance premiums generally depend on the appraised value of the items and your location. For many people, jewelry insurance costs around 1–2% of the insured value per year, though rates vary.
You can request a free insurance quote through Carat & Co. by visiting this link: Jewelers Mutual Free Quote - Code: 3955
Simply provide the code, item details, its value, and your ZIP code. Policies are personalized based on these details.
Most standalone jewelry or watch insurance policies require proof of value (such as a receipt or appraisal) to establish coverage limits. This helps ensure you receive fair protection based on the item’s true worth.
Yes, with Jewelers Mutual insurance, your covered items are typically protected worldwide, whether at home or abroad.
If a covered event (like theft or accidental damage) occurs, you would file a claim directly with the insurance provider. Coverage may include repair or replacement up to the insured amount.
(Specific claim details and procedures depend on your selected insurance plan and policy terms.)
Yes. Manufacturer warranties only cover defects in materials and workmanship for a limited time. Jewelry insurance protects against loss, theft, damage, and disappearance, which warranties do not cover.
