Fans of Grand Seiko have long requested that the brand create smaller wearable versions of the Spring Drive diver models and Spring Drive GMT models which traditionally were always 44mm. Well today we have great news as Grand Seiko announces their newest lineup in the Sport Collection, the SBGE255 , SBGE253 and SBGE257.
These three models feature a 40.5mm x 14.7mm Stainless steel case, the incredibly accurate 9R66 Spring Drive GMT movement that is accurate to -/+1 second per day with 72 hour power reserve, water resistance to 20 bar and matching ceramic bezels to the blue, green and black dial versions.
Carat & Co. is very excited to be carrying this latest collection from Grand Seiko and you can see each model below in the links. Each case and marker is zaratsu polished or Grand Seiko's unique polishing method that creates a distortion-free mirrorlike reflection. The 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock hour markers along with the hour and minutes hands are coated with Seiko's Lumibrite.
At 4 o'clock Grand Seiko features a borderless date window and the screw-down winding crown on the side of the case, which is always a nice feature to wear on the wrist without the crown digging into your hand. At 9 o'clock is the power reserve for the 72 hours of running time of the 9R66 Spring Drive GMT.
Finally, the GMT hand is a nice shade of red, blue or green to complement each of the respective dial colors. Inside the chapter ring of each watch is a 24-hour bezel featuring the day time and evening hours for the GMT, while the matching ceramic bezel reads the hours in a even numeral denomination.
All of these models are priced at $6,200.
